Inland Fisheries Ireland is the new national body which will shortly take over the running of inland fisheries from the Central and Regional Fisheries Boards. There will be 10 people on the Board of I.F.I.. All of these with the exceptions of the C.E.O. and elected staff member will be appointed by various ministers.
All the National Angling Federations are nominating members to the Minister for consideration. He may or may not appoint any of them.
At a recent committee meeting the Federation Committee decided to nominate John Crudden. John has been with the Federation for many years and is very involved with the European Anglers Alliance which represents many millions of anglers across Europe. We think that he would be a great asset to the new board. Fingers crossed.

Inland Fisheries Ireland was to be taking over from the Fisheries Boards at the end of 2009. It is now certain that that will not be the case and that it will probably be March 2010 before this takes place.
