We are currently in correspondance with the Central Fisheries Board with a view to producing a laminated card for distribution to anglers. On this card will be
1. Fisheries bye laws for angler information
2. list of fisheries protection officers, their mobile numbers and area where they operate.
3. We would also hope to have the same info for ESB protection staff.
All to often anglers see illegal activity and dont know who to phone. It is usually the next day before the fisheries board gets to hear about it by which time it is far too late.
We have mentioned this at Angling Council of Ireland meetings and they are fully behind the card.
Ithas been proposed that fisheries officers do not respond to calls from "private numbers" unless the caller gives his number and answers when called back for confirmation.
This idea may not get off the ground as it has to be fully cleared by protection staff etc.
While we are at this stage of negotiations with the CFB is there any other info we should have on the cards and what do you think of the idea ?

Well John there are plenty of lads that keep saying that if only they knew who to contact when incidents were occuring they would do so therefore it has to be a big plus provided it is used in the correct manner and the resources are there to impliment it.

Yes Indeed !!
I do think that we will be able to get this going in April when Inland Fisheries Ireland takes over from the Central and Regional Boards.
