Location
Take the N4 from
Roosky towards Carrick on Shannon, Lough Aduff is on your right approximately
one mile further on from Gortinty Lake, just before the Drumsna turn off,
turn right onto a small road that is serving a farm and a few houses on
the hill, after taking the right turn, turn left onto a short stretch
of road that used to be the N4 but is now an ideal car park for Lough
Aduff, entrance to the Lough is via a stile and across a field.
Overview
There are several platforms
down the side of the Lough which will accommodate, comfortably, two anglers,
a small footbridge will have to be crossed to gain access to the platforms
further up the Lough.
Methods
The depths vary
as you go up the lake, starting at eight feet with the first platform
and ending up with fourteen feet at the last. This used to be a prime
Tench and Bream water, the really big specimens seem to have disappeared,
nevertheless Tench to four pounds and Bream to five are fairly common,
fishing with two rods can pay dividends on this water, set up a rod for
the Tench and fish close to the reeds, then put a feeder out for the Bream.
The Bream are often caught from the platforms that are either side of
the footbridge, a forty to fifty foot cast will put you in the right area.
Like quite a lot of the lakes the fish shut down for the period around
midday, early mornings and the evenings are more productive, better still
try a night session.
Hook
Baits
Sweet Corn,
Worms and Bread Flake should account for the Tench, Worms or Reds tipped
with caster for the Bream.
Summary
Another very popular venue, get there early!!
