Location
Take the Kilglass road out of Roosky, one and a half miles and past Kilglass
Church, which is on your left, turn right down the hill, cross the Mountain
River, and take the first turn to the right, at the next junction turn
right and keep on this road for about two miles, just where the road forks
you will see Black Lake on your left, park on the verge, the entrance
is over a stile.
Overview
This is by far the smallest lake in the area, there are five platforms
which are always accessible, only a small lake but surprisingly deep in
the middle.
Quite a few anglers have told me that, over the years, that they have
had good catches of Tench to five pounds and Bream to three, on the numerous
occasions that I have fished it I have caught nothing but small Rudd,
you can make up your own mind about this but don't come into the pub and
tell me you have had loads of Tench there!!
(mmmm small Rudd specialist? Webmaster)
Methods
For the Rudd set the float around four to six feet, lightly shotted
or use a self cocker, ground bait should be a sloppy mix, bread flake
works well using this method.
Hook Baits
All the usual baits.
Summary
Nice lake … Pleasant surroundings..
