Location
From
Roosky, take the N4 towards Carrick on Shannon, just beyond the village
of Dromod turn right at Duignans Mill, which is a large corn and cattle
feed merchants building, take the next turn to your right, be warned!
drive very slowly down this lane as there are some very nasty potholes,
you should be able to see the lake on your right through the trees, park
on the verge opposite the stile.
Overview
There are twelve pegs between the trees on a very comfortable
West facing bank.
The lake is quite small by Irish standards and not very deep, there is
no more than four feet of water no matter how far you cast. This water
has an abundance of small Roach but only relatively small numbers of Tench
and Bream., the Bream run to about three pounds and can normally be located
at the top three pegs to the right. This lake, as the name implies, is
in the center of a bog therefore the water is murky for most of the time,
you will need to ground bait at regular intervals to achieve success.
Methods
Light Waggler fished two to three rod lengths out will produce
the Roach, for Bream get on the feeder
Hook Baits
Red Maggots, Casters, Sweet Corn or Worms all work well.
Summary
This is a most pleasant lake to fish but not one to choose if
you are looking for a big weight
