Location
Take
the Kilglass road out of Roosky then first right to Kilmore, bear right
over Carranadoe bridge then turn left through Hill Street village, after
approximately three quarters of a mile turn left at the sign post for
Hill Street Lakes, you will come to a small bridge, take the track on
your left just before the bridge, park just inside the field and please
close the gate!!! Don't attempt to take your car to the lake, the ground
is not suitable.
Overview
Dooneen is two lakes that are joined together by a small river,
there are two single platforms and four or five swims that have been cut
through the reeds.
There is an abundance of fish in this lake, Roach, Perch, Rudd, Hybrids
and Pike, there is also a good head of Bream to five pounds.
Methods
Having a depth of approximately sixteen feet, all methods work
well but remember the Bream like the bait nailed to the bottom, if there
are no signs of it having been recently fished then pre bait if these
are your quarry.
Lough Nahincha
Park on the right before the bridge and you will see the Lough
across a field, there are three pegs in this field and four across the
ditch and into the trees.. Or
Take the first turning right after the bridge and park by the gate on
the right, again you will see the lake across the field.
There are eight pegs which have been cut through the reeds, remember that
these are bog lakes so be extremely careful when walking close to the
waters edge. The swims are facing an Island and the depth is about sixteen
feet, this area has produces some very big catches over the years.
Method
As per Dooneen
Summary
Two extremely good venues
