Location
Take the Kilglass
road out of Roosky, one and a half miles and past Kilglass Church, which
is on your left, turn right down the hill, cross the Mountain River, and
take the first turn to the right, go across the next junction to the Lough
Nablahy sign posted road, take the right turn directly opposite the quarry
entrance and follow this road to the lake on your left, park on the verge
next to the gate.
Overview
There are two to
three pegs just through the gate, there are many more pegs on the opposite
bank but it's a long walk round. This lake is very deep even at the end
of the lake. where the gate is. You will find sixteen feet of water just
over a rods length out and thirty feet nearer the middle, don't let this
put you off, this water has a good stock of very big Rudd and they always
tend to feed high up in the water.
Methods
For the Rudd set
the float around four to six feet, lightly shotted or use a self cocker,
ground bait should be a sloppy mix, bread flake works well using this
method.
If you are after the Bream then try the feeder, don't cast too far as
the greater the depth the less chance you will have of locating them,
I have caught more fish using a slider fished well off of the bottom than
I have with the feeder, prebaiting just over the first shelf usually pays
off.
Hook Baits
All the usual baits.
