Heat 1- River Inny at Redbribge on Sunday 7th April.
80 anglers fished the competition returning all 40 pike, the best of which was 6lb 1oz.
1st, Oliver Martin, Ardee Pike Anglers, 4 fish, 12lb 8ozs.
2nd, Terry Sheridan,North Longford Anglers, 4 fish, 6lb 4ozs.
3rd, Finbar Meehan, North Longford Anglers, 4 fish, 6lb 1oz.
4th, Joe Coleman, East Coast Anglers, 2 fish, 5lb 14ozs.
5th, Joe Maxwell, Kilgar Pike Anglers, 1 fish, 5lb 5ozs.


Heat 2 - River Suck at Dunamon on Sunday 12th May.
83 anglers landed and returned all 210 pike, the best fish of which was 15lb 5oz was caught by John Woods of Belfast Individuals.
1st, John Woods, Belfast Individuals, 3 fish, 18lb 7ozs.
2nd, Godfrey Donuhoe, Dublin Pike Anglers, 4 fish, 16lb 14ozs.
3rd, Jimmy Farrell, Dublin Pike Anglers, 2 fish, 14lb 9ozs.
4th, Leslie Woodland, Thomondgate Anglers,1 fish, 14lb 4ozs.
5th, Sean Markey, Cootehill Angling Club, 4 fish, 12lb 10ozs.


Heat 3 - River Barrow, Athy on Sunday 9th June.
57 anglers landed and returned all 60 pike, the best pike being Francie Rafferty's 13lb 7ozs.
1st, Eugene Hennigar, Thomdgate Anglers, 4 fish, 32lb 9ozs.
2nd, Francie Rafferty, Slieve Gullion, 3 fish, 18lb 9ozs.
3rd, Marty Lawlor, Belfast Individuals, 4 fish, 16lbs.
4th, Aidan Mulcahy, Thomandgate Anglers, 3 fish, 14lb 6ozs.
5th, Thomas Mc Cabe, Newry Pike Anglers, 3 fish, 11lb 8ozs.


Heat 4 - Ballyquirke Lake, Moycullen, Co. Galway on Sunday 7th July.
46 anglers returned all 46 pike, the best fish being 10lb 8ozs and caught by Frank Leonard.
1st, Alan Heasley, East Coast Anglers, 5 fish, 24lb 7ozs.
2nd, Frank Leonard, Drogheda and District Anglers, 2 fish, 14lb 3ozs.
3rd, Derek Mohan, Dom's Pike Angling Club, 3 fish, 14lb 1oz.
4th, Brenton Sweeney, Cootehill Angling Club, 1 fish, 9lb 8ozs.
5th, George Dillon, Morris Insulations, 4 fish, 7lb 1 oz.


Heat 5 - Woodford River at Ballyconnell on Sunday 11th August.
59 anglers landed and returned all 58 pike, the best fish being 12lbs.
1st, Martin Carroll, Ardee Pike Anglers, 2 fish, 18lb 4ozs.
2nd, Fergus Melligan, Kilgar Pike Anglers, 3 fish, 15lb 15ozs.
3rd, Pat Gorman, Tullamore and District Anglers, 3 fish, 15lb 4ozs.
4th, Kieran Maxwell, Kilgar Pike Anglers, 1 fish, 12lb.
5th, Michael Mc Kenna, Keady Pike Anglers, 3 fish, 8lb 14ozs.


Heat 6 - Assaroe Lake, Co. Donegal on Sunday 1st September.
74 anglers landed and returned 40 pike with the best fish weighing in at 10lb 1oz caught by Paul Martin from Ardee.
1st, John Chambers, Dublin Pike Anglers, 6 fish, 18lb 4ozs.
2nd, Gary Quinn, Doms Pike Anglers, 3 fish, 13lb 11ozs.
3rd, Paul Martin, Ardee Pike Anglers, 1 fish, 10lb 1oz.
4th, Shane Fisher, Keady Pike Anglers, 3 fish, 9lb 8ozs.
5th, Noel Mc Partland, Newry Town Pikers, 3 fish, 9lb 6ozs.




Heat 7 - River Shannon, Castleconnell on Sunday 13th October.
59 anglers caught 117 pike of which 11 were doubles. Three twenties were landed with Willie Lonergans fish of 22lbs being the best.

2nd Bernard O Donnell (Limerick) 9 pike, 59-09 incl 11-06,10-03
3rd Ray Callopy (Limerick) 4 pike, 44-06 incl 20-07,15-13

Heat 8 - Grand Canal, Tullamore on Sunday 3rd November.
48 anglers returned 86 pike. The best fish was caught by Pat Sheenan and weighed in at 20lb 14oz.
1st. Pat Sheenan (Kingscourt) 2 pike 22-02 (best 20-14)
2nd. John Boyle (Granard) 6 pike 19-04 (best 12-03)
3rd. Eddie Keogh (Trim ) 6 pike 11-07

Heat 9 - Camlough, Co. Armagh on Sunday 1st December.
48 anglers returned 29 pike.The 5 anglers who qualified were:

2nd. Gary McKeown (Belfast) 2 pike 11-15
3rd. Aidan McKenna (Keady) 2 pike 11-07

Heat 10 - Lough Egish, Co. Monaghan on Sunday 5th January.

"Pure Fishing" National Junior Pike Championships


Heat 1 - Lacken Lake, Ballyjamesduff on Saturday 15th June.
There was a good entry with 18 pike to 12lb being caught and released.
Under 13:
1. Brendan Muldoon 3 pike for 17lb 11ozs.
2. Sean Woods 1 pike for 5lb 9ozs.
3. Jason Sheridan 1 pike for 2lb 11ozs.
4. Adrian Lirk 1 pike for 1lb 8ozs.
5. Ben Cosworth 1 pike for 15ozs.
Under 18:
1. Noel Fay 2 pike for 14lb 8ozs.
2. Martin Murphy 2 pike for 10lb 10ozs.
3. Margaret Boyle 2 pike for 10lb.
4. Mandy Sheridan 2 pike for 8lb 7ozs.
5. Adam Sheenan 1 pike for 6lb 6ozs.
6. Michael Mulligan 1 pike for 2lb 4ozs.

Final - Lough Avaghon, Co. Monaghan on Sunday 15th September.
55 anglers fished the final with Margaret Boyle catching the largest fish weighing 18lb 8ozs (A new personal best). Well done.

All Ireland Junior Inter Club Team Championship



The All Ireland inter club team championships were held in conjunction with the Pure Fishing junior championships on 15th September.
1st. Dublin Pike Anglers (Ian Church, James Farrell, Jake Jackson, Paul Chambers) 8 fish 30lb 14ozs.
2nd. Keady Pike Anglers (Michael Mc Kenna, Ryan Leonard, Patrick Slevin, Chris Mc Quillan) 6 fish 21lb 14ozs.
3rd. North Longford Anglers (Margaret Boyle, Amanda Sheridan, John Reynolds, Michael Aichinson) 4 fish 21lb 8 ozs
.



Again, well done to all the Juniors anglers who participated throughout the year.



All Ireland Senior Inter-Club Team Championship



Affiliated clubs sent along 26 four member teams to compete for the title of All Ireland Inter Club Champions. Four lakes were fished in the Kingscourt/Shercock area.

Keady Angling Club were the big winners providing the top two teams.The Keady A team were the runaway winners with the impressive total of 13 pike for 84 lbs 6ozs.This included three nice doubles. Keady last won this event in 1988 when it was held on Baronscourt estate.

In all 108 pike were caught which included 8 doubles.The top three teams were:
1st. Keady "A" 13 pike 84-06
Raymond Leonard,Michael McKenna,Jim Slevin and John Marshall
2nd. Keady "C" 5 pike 37-15
Aidan McKenna,Johnny McKenna,Charlie McKenna and Jason Fisher
3rd. Individuals .A.C. 11 pike 36-03
Marty Lawlor,John Murphy,Anthony Muldoon and John Mc Mullan

With Cootehill finishing in fourth the top 4 teams came from Ulster.
The best fish on the day was caught by Willie Morrissey.Unfortunately there was nobody near Willie at the time so he sportingly quickly weighed the fish himself and returned it rather than bag it and wait for another angler to come along.He weighed the pike in at 9 kgs.

The top individual bags were:
1st. Michael McKenna (Keady) 7 pike 44-06 (incl 2 14 pounders)
2nd. John Marshall (Keady) 5 pike 34-06 ( incl 12 pounder)
3rd. Patrick Clarke (Kingscourt) 5 pike 22-14

 

NOTE:

The IFPAC runs The "Kingspan" National Pike Championship each year, the All-Ireland inter-club championship, the "Pure-Fishing" National Junior pike championship and the All-Ireland junior inter-club championship.

Anglers are reminded of the following competition rules:
An angler must be a member of a fully paid up affiliated club.
An angler may be refused entry to the competition without reason being given.
Anglers who act as stewards at heats will be eligible to enter a special heat for stewards provided that the person has been a steward at 4 heats and has weighed a minimum of 4 fish.
Fish can NOT be weighed by the gills. It is the responsibility of the angler to ensure this does not happen.
A maximum of two fish in a keep sack.
Objections must be made within an hour unless otherwise stated at the check-in.
