Fishery
1. Cloonart Bridge
Fishery 2. Annaveagh Bridge
Fishery 3. Clooneagh Bridge
Location
Fishery
No. 1. Cloonart Bridge crosses over the Rinn River midway between Roosky
and Newtown Forbes on the N4. Fishing is permissible upstream of the bridge
on both banks.
Fishery No. 2. From Roosky turn right immediately after the Shannon
Keywest Hotel, follow this road all the way to the junction with Fox's
pub on your left, turn left and after half a mile you will come to Annaveagh
Bridge, fishing is on the bank adjacent to the small car park.
Fishery No. 3. From Roosky turn right after the Shannon Keywest
Hotel and follow the road to the first bridge which is Clooneagh.
Fishery No. 1
To fish the Northern bank, park by the bridge, access to the bank
is at the side of the bridge, in this first field the river is quite shallow,
only three to four feet deep, although it occasionally produces fish I
would strongly recommend that you walk a few yards upstream to where the
first stile is, anywhere upstream to where the river takes a turn to the
left, is deep water, ten to fourteen feet, This stretch is far more productive
and does have a resident shoal of Bream to five pounds, they are normally
found in the pegs close to the pylon. To fish the Southern bank take the
first turning left after the bridge, you can park in the field on the
left but you will have to pay a fee.. further up the lane there is parking
for two cars on the verge, by a gate, (do not park on the road, leave
access for farm vehicles). If you walk across the field at this
point you will be in the middle of the deep water stretch.
Method
The pole at six to seven metres is ideal and works well for Roach
and Hybrids, if you are after the Bream you will have to fish hard on
the bottom, therefore, out with the feeder!!
Fishery No. 2
At the bridge you will find a small car park on the right, the
fishing is up this bank above the trees. The nearer you are to where the
river exits the lough, the better the fishing, you will find that fish
constantly migrate between the lough and the river therefore you will
be aware that no two days at this venue are ever the same.. ie. when it's
good it's very good, when it's bad get yourself off to 'Fox's' for
a few bevy's!!!
Method
As for fishery one
Fishery No. 3
Park on the road by the stile on the left hand side. The river
is very shallow, about one foot deep either side of the bridge, but if
you proceed up stream you will find two pegs close to the hedge which
are about five feet deep, Bream are to be found here. Downstream
from the bridge on the right hand bank is a small field, after which the
river deepens to around three feet, after the bend you will find the odd
hole averaging six feet.
Method.
Basically the same as for Fishery 1.
The predominant species are Roach and Hybrids, the Bream are not always
easy to locate but you may find yourself connected with a few Tench.
