Roosky has for many years been one of the most popular venues for coarse angling in Ireland, it is central for access to literally dozens of venues on various rivers, and numerous lakes are within easy reach of the village.

There is a lot of accommodation to choose from catering for a variety of tastes, several are run by practicing anglers who are always delighted to show their guests the ropes.

The town has many pubs including Reynolds, which must surely be the most well known "Anglers Pub" in Ireland, many of you will know Peter and his family from previous visits, mind you, the other pubs are excellent, catering for a wide variety of tastes depending on your frame of mind!

The Shannon flows directly through the town and there is good access for those of you who don't want to walk too far, although we do feel that a lot more could be done to give greater access to other parts of the river in Roosky.

Cloonbonigh Lake is five minutes from the bridge and Lough Rynn is about twenty minutes drive, the County town of Carrick on Shannon is only a short drive and has an excellent tackle shop and shopping centre, situated in Roosky itself is an Irish Angling Services agent who keeps good stocks of bait at all times during the season along with many items of tackle.

You will find that this is yet another village dedicated to Angling Tourism, it is also a major stopping off point and watering hole for our friends on the hire cruisers, you will find all nationalities in the pubs throughout the season.

There are good restaurants  in the town at The Weir Lodge and at the Hotel so you will not be stuck for good food here!

There is an Angling Festival in Roosky which is has been held every year, up until this year, it is a sincere hope we shall hold it again in the future, it was unavoidable that the festival could not be held in 1999 but we all look forward to its eventual return. unfortunately not in 2000
