Shannon Regional Fisheries Board Coarse Angling Permit

The following information, which is accessed by choosing the links below is a record of events and also of the campaign undertaken by the Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs in respect of the introduction of the Shannon Regional Fishery Board Coarse Angling Permit in January 2003.

The Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs had boycotted the 27 managed waters of the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board throughout 2003 in direct response to the activities of the Board on a number of these waters which were contrary to the preservation and conservation of pike, namely gillnetting. The Shannon Regional Fishery Board informed IFPAC in February 2004 of their descision to cease gillnetting. The Federation welcomes this move by the Board and as a consequence a decision was taken at the AGM in March by the affiliated clubs to end the boycott.
